Nokonoshima, a small island off the Hakata Port. Spanning a meager 12km of area, this resort island can be accessed via a 10-minute boat ride from the Meinohama Ship Port in Nishi-ward, Fukuoka City.
The most popular destination is the Nokonoshima Island Park. In this 15,000m garden of delight, visitors can enjoy flowers that change based on the season. Just beyond the garden is the big blue ocean of Hakata Port, its contrast mesmerizing and great as a backdrop.
Inside the park are various restaurants and souvenir shops. Here, you can enjoy a special “Nouko Udon” noodle, AKA the “Kyo-chan Udon”. The noodles are thin, yet firm, and are unique udon different from the traditional Hakata Udon.
You can also enjoy the “Noko-Noko Ball”, a unique take on gate balling. Using similar clubs and balls, enjoy the serene sceneries of nature. You can also take on pottery, drawing on pots, and various athletic activities where you can bathe yourself, and relax surrounded by nature.
