Kai Nagato

Nagato Yumoto Onsen with more than 600 years of history was said to have been found after god’s revelation. In this prominent hot spring resort in Yamaguchi, Kai Nagato opened its nation-wide chain in 2020. It is run by Hoshino Resort upon the concept of “Domain lord’s retreat,” which recreates samurai culture. Surrounded by rush green, it stands quietly by the Otozure River.

The guest rooms reflect the local atmosphere - the bedroom is raised higher like the bedding for a domain lord with a graceful latticework over it. The local traditional crafts of Tokuji Japanese paper, Hagi ware, Hagi glass and Ouchi lacquerware adds warmth and a modern touch. There are two indoor baths, the hot one and the warm one from the flowing source spring as well as an outdoor bath. The spring water seeping out of the rocks is rather strong alkaline and thick like beauty essence.

From the courtyard through Akebono Gate, you can get to the onsen resort quickly. Strolling through nature in different seasons is quite pleasant.
