Along the Kitakami River, a 2-story market stands at the heart of Ishinomaki City.
The merchandise section on the 1st floor provides fresh seafood from Ishinomaki Port. In different seasons, the resident divers bring sea urchin and abalone they caught. Check out the vegetables brought by local farmers everyday. There are processed seafood and produce as well. The local specialty corner is set up which offers products from areas inside and outside the prefecture that supported the reconstruction of Ishinomaki after the Great East Japan Earthquake.
The 2nd floor has a spacious food court, Genki Shokudo, which serves seafood from the waters around Kinkazan Island, one of the world’s three major fisheries. Their set meal and ramen with Kinka mackerel is a delicacy only available here. Seafood rice bowls with generous ingredients in season are popular, too. You can sit on the terrace seat and enjoy the Ishinomaki nature and the seafood.
