The works of Shotaro Ishinomori, the "King of Manga," are on display.

Last update :

This three-story building exhibits the works and original drawings of Shotaro Ishinomori (1938-1998), who created numerous masterpieces such as "Cyborg 009" and "Kamen Rider (Masked Rider)".
Although the building was damaged in the Great East Japan Earthquake, it reopened one year and eight months after the disaster.

Ishinomori was born in Tome City, next to Ishinomaki City.
In 2001, the Ishinomori Manga Museum was built in Ishinomaki, a memorable place where he often came to see movies when he was a student.
In addition to general exhibits, the museum offers visitors the opportunity to learn about the possibilities of manga from various angles, including frequent special exhibitions of other manga artists and a multimedia workshop where visitors can create their own animations.

The 1-km road leading from Ishinomaki Station to Ishinomori Manga Museum is called "Ishinomaki Manga Road" and is lined with monuments to "Cyborg 009" and "Kamen Rider," helping to revitalize the area.
