A temple of the Jodo sect, founded in 1706. It is affectionately known as "Jogi-san" by the locals. This is the place where Taira no Sadayoshi, a vassal of the Heike clan, fled from the pursuit of the Minamoto clan and finally arrived. Taira no Sadayoshi changed his name to Jogi and went into hiding, and was enshrined here after his death, which is said to be the origin of the temple. The Amida Nyorai image that Sadayoshi defended in defeat is the principal object of worship at the temple and is enshrined in the main hall as a secret Buddha image.

Many worshippers visit "Jogi-san" throughout the year to pray for good luck in marriage and childbirth. There are many attractions within the temple grounds, such as the temple gate and the Kosodate kannon (Goddess who protects the safety and healthy growth of children). In particular, the 30-meter five-story pagoda is a must-see. At the adjacent matcha (green tea) shop, visitors can enjoy a cup of authentic powdered green tea made from "Chomei-sui" spring water while admiring the five-story pagoda. The Monzenmachi area is lined with stores selling snacks and sweets, making it the perfect place to enjoy a bite to eat after visiting the temple. The famous triangular deep-fried tofu is one of the most popular gourmet specialties, selling as many as 10,000 servings a day on some days.

The shrine is located in Sendai City, but access is inconvenient due to its mountainous location. It is easy to get there by bus from Sendai Station, but the number of buses is limited.
