The Karuizawa Taliasen is a leisure complex around Lake Shiozawa that combines "nature, museums, literature," and "fun. Within the complex stands the Suikyuso (Fomer Asabuki Sanso Hotel), which is registered as a Tangible Cultural Property of Japan.

The building was designed by American architect William Merrell Vories in 1931, and was relocated and restored from its original location near Nitebashi Bridge to its current location in 2008. It is considered one of the finest in the history of Karuizawa villa architecture and has high historical value.

The interior of the museum displays luxurious furniture and fireplaces used by the Asabuki family, who actually lived in the house as a vacation home, creating the atmosphere of the time.

It is also interesting to note the unique Vories' design features throughout, such as the staircase leading to the second floor and the terrace that can be accessed immediately from the dining room.

The museum also occasionally holds special exhibitions, such as exhibitions of various painters and ceramic art, which are also worth checking out. (There is a separate admission fee for special exhibitions.)
