Last update :

This hot spring was created by the eruptive activity of Mt. Yosomiyama during the Meiji Era.
It boasts an abundance of hot spring water and has the largest number of hotels and inns in Hokkaido. It is now one of the most popular hot spring resorts in Hokkaido, attracting more than 3 million tourists a year. Located along the lakeside, the guest rooms and open-air baths offer a luxurious bathing experience with views of the fantastic Lake Toya, which changes its appearance with the seasons, and the beautiful Mt. Yotei, also known as Ezo Fuji.

The hot spring resort area is dotted with foot baths and hand baths that can be used free of charge, and visitors can casually enjoy the sodium calcium chloride hot springs, which are said to be effective in treating coldness and dry skin. A promenade is maintained along the lakeside, and it is fun to wander around the town while enjoying the hand and foot baths.

Various events are held throughout the year, and the "Lake Toya Long-Run Fireworks Display" is held annually from late April through October for a long period of time. For 20 minutes from 8:45pm to 9:05pm every day, a large fireworks display blooms over Lake Toya, delighting the eyes of guests.

Every summer, I come to Lake Toya to watch the fireworks! The famous Lake Toya Long Run Fireworks Festival happens every year, with about 450 fireworks going off over the lake for around 20 minutes. If you're staying by the lake, you definitely shouldn't miss it!

  • AW-TWBoy1999

Lake Toya is ranked as the third most beautiful volcanic lake in Japan! My favorite part is definitely the Lake Toya Onsen. There's a hot spring street along the lakeside with lots of upscale hotels, all facing the lake. You get gorgeous lake views from your room, and you can even watch fireworks shows! 👍
