Okutsu Valley

Okutsu Valley, spread across about 3km, is located upstream of the 'Yoshii River' flowing through Okayama Prefecture. The gorge features an ever-changing landscape, boasting a scenic pedestrian path beside it. As you walk, the sights of peculiar rocks, cliffs, waterfalls, and other quintessential features of a gorge come alive, attracting many nature enthusiasts.

A notable highlight is the "Usubuchi Oketsu Group", considered the best of its kind in the East. This phenomenon refers to pot-holes created over hundreds of thousands of years by the swirling water currents eroding the granite. The series of these formations is truly a testament to nature's grandeur.

The region is also recognized as one of the best spots in Okayama for autumn foliage. Come fall, and the valley is ablaze with the crimson hues of maple, beech, and other trees. Moreover, the spring blooms with fresh green leaves, rhododendron, and azalea flowers, while summer boasts deep greens and crystal-clear streams. Winters transform the valley into a snow-covered wonderland, making Okutsu Valley a visual treat throughout the year.
