This popular park overlooks Yokosuka Port and is named after the French engineer Verny, who contributed to the construction of the old Yokosuka Iron Works seen across the bay. The park, with its geometric French garden design, complements the port city ambiance of Yokosuka.

The seaside boardwalk, where visitors can enjoy the sea breeze and pleasant walks, is part of the roughly 10km promenade "Umikaze no Michi," stretching from JR Yokosuka Station to Kannonzaki. The flower beds are planted with about 1,300 bushes of 130 rose varieties, offering a spectacular display of colors and elegant fragrances twice a year in spring and autumn. During the blooming season, the "Rose Festa" features food trucks, markets, and music performances.

Facilities like the "Verny Commemorative Museum," which introduces Verny's achievements, and the "Yokosuka Modern Heritage Museum Thibaudier Residence," a relocated and recreated one of the oldest Western-style buildings on the mainland, offer free admission. The park also has historical elements reflecting its naval port heritage, such as the main gun of the battleship "Mutsu" built in Yokosuka, the remains of a guardhouse, and various monuments.
