Semba Center Building

A huge shopping complex with around 800 stores spread across an Approx. 1 km east-west stretch.

Last update :

This huge shopping complex opened in 1970, timed with Expo '70 Osaka, as part of the redevelopment of the Semba district, once home to many textile wholesalers. Buildings 1 through 10 line up from the Sakaisuji side to the Midosuji side, stretching for Approx. 1 km in total.

Inside the 10 buildings, which range from the 2nd basement floor to 4 stories above ground, around 800 stores are lined up, mainly apparel wholesalers and retailers, along with restaurants and variety goods shops. A wide range of items is sold here, and hunting for bargain finds is part of the fun. With retro Showa-era coffee shops and long-established restaurants also inside, you can enjoy interesting discoveries just by walking through the complex.

Another highlight is that each building and floor has its own character, such as Osaka Hakurai Mart, a specialty zone on the 1st basement floor of Buildings 1 to 3 focused mainly on imported goods wholesale, and Joy Semba 50, with around 50 restaurants on the 2nd basement floor of Buildings 2 and 3. Also recommended is the mural at the event space "SEMBA MURAL PARK," completed to commemorate the building's 50th anniversary, in the underground passage connecting the 2nd basement floors of Buildings 3 and 4.

Its excellent access is another draw, with direct connections to four stations on three Osaka Metro lines: Hommachi Station on the Midosuji and Chuo Lines, and Sakaisuji-Hommachi Station on the Sakaisuji and Chuo Lines. The beautifully lit exterior at night, illuminated with LED lighting, is also a must-see.
