The Osaka Castle Spring Festival is a beloved annual event held at Osaka Castle Park, one of the Kansai region’s most famous cherry blossom spots. It takes place each year from mid-March to mid-May, when the cherry blossoms are at their peak.
Throughout the park, there are many scenic highlights such as Nishinomaru Garden and the cherry-lined paths along the east and south moats. Around 3,000 cherry trees-mainly Somei Yoshino-burst into bloom, creating a breathtaking landscape. From late March to early May, visitors can also enjoy the simultaneous blooming of peach and cherry blossoms in the Peach Grove, offering a vibrant display of colors. At Nishinomaru Garden, home to Osaka’s official cherry blossom reference tree, the nighttime light-up event “Kansakura Nighter” transforms the park into a magical wonderland of illuminated blossoms.
During the festival, a paid barbecue area is set up, and food trucks selling Osaka specialties such as takoyaki and kushikatsu, along with cherry blossom-themed sweets, line the park. Visitors can enjoy a wide variety of local foods while taking in the spectacular cherry blossoms.
