For seven days around mid-April each year, a portion of the grounds of the Independent Administrative Institution Mint is open to the public, coinciding with the blooming of the double-flowered cherry trees. The event began in 1883 when Kinsuke Endo, then Director General of the Mint Bureau, decided that it would be a waste if only employees of the Bureau could view the cherry blossoms, and opened the premises, where many varieties of cherry trees were in bloom, to the public. The name "walkthrough" was derived from the fact that cherry blossom-viewing visitors could pass through the 560-meter-long path along the old Yodogawa River on the Mint's premises in a one-way traffic system.

Currently, more than 130 varieties of cherry trees are in bloom, including late-blooming double-flowered cherry trees such as Kanzan, Shogetsu, Fugenzo, and Yang Guifei, as well as rare species such as Otemari and Kotebari, rarely seen elsewhere. The reason being that "we want people to become familiar with the cherry blossom walkthrough ," since 1975, one of the many varieties has been selected as the "flower of the year" and introduced every year. The types of cherry trees and their images are listed in the "Cherry Blossom StreetPassage Cherry Blossom Tree List" on the official website, so enjoy a variety of cherry blossoms while using it as a reference.

    造幣局一直是大阪地方最熱門的賞櫻地點之一,每年開放時間有限,都會有大量人潮前往參觀,也因為人太多幾乎沒有辦法停下腳步只能慢慢被人群推著走。
