Osaka Castle’s tower is at the heart of this Park with multi facilities and concert / event halls.
Nationally designated special historical site, Osaka Castle Ruin, and the surrounding area were renovated into an urban park. 13 buildings of important cultural properties including Osaka Castle Main Tower, watchtowers and gates dot the vast 261-acre premises.
Osaka Castle Main Tower at the central location is a museum, which displays historical information and objects related to the life of Toyotomi Hideyoshi who unified Japan. 50m above ground, the observatory deck on the 8th floor offers the view over the whole Osaka Castle Park and Osaka City.
The premises also host a multi-purpose facility JO-TERRACE OSAKA, Osaka Castle Hall for a big concert and event, Osaka Castle Music Hall for outdoor concerts, etc. In 2019, COOL JAPAN PARK OSAKA with large, medium and small theaters was opened. Hopes are high that it will be a home to world-class entertainment.
The Park is also known for cherry blossoms. In spring, about 3,000 cherry trees cover the park with pink blankets. Nishinomaru Garden especially is an unforgettable dreamscape with almost 300 Somei Yoshino and other species illuminated at night.
In March of 2021, Osaka Castle Run & Walk Course was renovated and opened. Guide maps and course signs were added to facilitate more comfortable running and walking. You can see Osaka Castle Tower and other important cultural properties and refresh yourself in the beauty of nature. It truly is an oasis in the middle of the city.
