Located in Nakatsugawa City, Gifu Prefecture, Suya Main Store is a long-established Japanese confectionery shop that has been in business since the Genroku era of the Edo period (1688–1704). It is widely known as a famous shop for kurikinton. The store offers flavorful Japanese sweets unique to Nakatsugawa, a renowned chestnut-producing area.

A wide variety of Japanese sweets made with chestnuts lines the shop counter. Among them, kurikinton, which goes on sale from September, is the signature item. Made with only carefully selected domestic chestnuts and sugar, it lets you enjoy the chestnuts’ natural sweetness and smooth texture. Kurikintsuba and kuri manju are sold from late November to August, while kuri natto, kuri kogori, kurikinton yokan, and kuri yokan are available year-round. In addition to chestnut sweets, the shop also offers a rich selection of Japanese sweets such as soba manju and kurumi mochi.

The interior has a calm atmosphere with a traditional Japanese feel. You can casually buy even just one piece. There is also a full selection of assorted gift sets, making them ideal for presents for someone special. The shop is also easy to reach, just a 5-minute walk from Nakatsugawa Station. It’s in a convenient location for stopping by between sightseeing spots.
