Opened in Miyoshi, Tokushima in 2024, Pearl Pastry Shop Main Store Workshop is a pastry shop selling lemon cakes perfected by a chef said to have tried lemon cakes from all over Japan. Its distinctive flavor has become widely known, making it a popular destination for lemon cake.

The shop’s signature lemon cake is defined as neither simply “sweet” nor merely “sour,” but “properly sweet and distinctly tart.” It is made with fully ripened lemons grown on the shop’s own farm. You can enjoy the crisp texture of the sugar coating on top of the cake and the juicy burst of lemon flavor. Depending on the time of day, you may also find freshly baked lemon cakes served hot and fluffy. Canelés, traditional baked sweets, and cakes are also available.

The interior was designed around the image of “a secret cake shop in the European countryside in the 1900s,” making it fun just to look around. Antique British furniture is used for fixtures and doors. It’s also a spot where you can enjoy the atmosphere itself.
