Aokiya (Achi Village)
A restaurant with a fishing pond where you can enjoy freshwater fish and local specialty dishes surrounded by satoyama nature.
This restaurant is in Achi Village at the foot of Mount Ena, the southernmost peak of the Central Alps. It is located Approx. 3 km from Sonohara IC on the Chuo Expressway and can be reached from central Nagoya in 90 minutes by car, yet still lets you fully enjoy the atmosphere of satoyama countryside.
The spacious interior has a gas grill at each table and a calm, relaxing atmosphere with the look of a traditional Japanese farmhouse. You can enjoy freshwater fish such as amago trout, char, and rainbow trout, raised in the clear streams flowing from 2,191-meter Mount Ena, prepared as salt-grilled fish, deep-fried fish, and more. Local specialties such as gohei-mochi grilled with a secret sauce made with walnuts and Japanese pepper, and fresh horse sashimi, are also popular. There are à la carte dishes and set meals, but if there are many dishes you want to try, a course meal is recommended.
The restaurant also has an attached fishing pond. Rods and bait are available to rent, so you can enjoy freshwater fishing empty-handed. You can take the fish you catch home, or have them cooked at the restaurant and eat them there. It is usually closed on Tuesdays and Fridays, but it is also open on Fridays during the best season for Achi Village's famous hanamomo blossoms (from mid-April to mid-May) and during the Obon holiday period.
