Garden Tea Room Minami
A dining venue at a long-established inn where you can look out over a stunning Japanese garden.
Matsue Shinjiko Onsen sits along the shore of Lake Shinji, a symbol of Shimane. Minamikan, a long-established traditional inn with Approx. 140 years of history and one of the prefecture's top culinary ryokan, also welcomes guests for dining only. You can enjoy dishes prepared with Minami's traditional techniques and flavors using seasonal local ingredients from the Sea of Japan, Lake Shinji, the Chugoku Mountains, and more.
Taimeshi, rice topped with minced domestic sea bream and condiments, then finished with a bonito-based broth, is a popular signature dish created by Minamikan's first head chef and passed down through generations. At lunch, casual set meals are available, while dinner includes set meals as well as kaiseki cuisine beautifully arranged with seasonal seafood and local dishes from Matsue (reservation required).
In addition to the Japanese-modern main dining area with tables and bench seating, there are also highly private chair-style private rooms and traditional Japanese tatami rooms. On the grounds is a karesansui dry landscape garden centered around a famous tree that is 300 years old, and through the windows you can enjoy a stunning view with Lake Shinji as the borrowed scenery.
