NIPPONIA Chichibu Monzenmachi

A special stay in renovated historic buildings dating from the Meiji era to the early Showa era.

Last update :

This accommodation is located in the temple town surrounding Chichibu Shrine, one of Chichibu's three major shrines and famous for the winter Chichibu Night Festival. Guests can stay in inviting spaces created by renovating historically significant buildings, including the Koike Tobacco Shop, a Registered Tangible Cultural Property built in the early Showa era, the adjoining Miyatani Residence, and the Maruju Pharmacy complex, whose buildings date from 1868 to the early Showa era.

The guest rooms occupy the main houses, detached buildings, and storehouses of traditional homes. They retain traces of their original architecture while incorporating modern features for a comfortable stay. The eight rooms each have a distinct atmosphere, from their interiors to the views from their windows. Every room also features a hinoki cypress bath, whose gentle fragrance helps soothe travel fatigue.

The restaurant serves seasonal creative cuisine made with locally sourced ingredients, including fresh vegetables and river fish. An optional walking tour of the surrounding area with a guide certified by the Chichibu Hospitality Tourism Organization is also popular and requires advance reservations.
