Located near central Nagoya, Tokugawa Garden is a Japanese garden created on the former estate of the Owari Tokugawa family. Like the daimyo gardens common during the Edo period, it features a strolling pond design, offering condensed views of Japan's natural beauty and seasonal flowers.

The annual Autumn Leaves Festival is held from mid-November to early December, when around 100 trees, including maples, turn vivid colors. Various events take place during the festival, including concerts, tea gatherings, and craft markets. On weekends, the garden extends its opening hours and is illuminated after dark. Stroll along paths lit by lanterns made of washi paper, bamboo, Oribe ware, and other materials, and experience an atmosphere entirely different from the daytime. The colorful foliage reflected upside down in the pond is also not to be missed.

Combine your visit with the garden restaurant, which serves Japanese-French cuisine made with Japanese ingredients overlooking the garden, and the Tokugawa Art Museum, which exhibits numerous National Treasures and objects associated with the Owari Tokugawa family.
