Kitanomine is actually pretty weather-dependent. When the weather is good, the view as you ski down from the top is really beautiful. You can see Mt. Tokachi, the Daisetsuzan mountain range, and the Furano area, and it's very enjoyable to take in the scenery while skiing. But when there's heavy snow, fog, or strong winds, visibility drops significantly. Sometimes it's hard to even make out the contours of the snow ahead, so you really can't go too fast in those conditions.

Overall, I don't think Kitanomine's runs are particularly complicated, but the snow quality is good and the runs are wide, making them very comfortable to ski.

What impressed me most about Furano wasn't just how great the snow was for skiing, but how absolutely unreal the scenery was. Looking out from the slopes, the view opens up completely and stretches as far as the eye can see, making you momentarily forget that you came there to ski.

Powder snow is Furano's signature, but first-tracks corduroy in the morning, freshly groomed and completely untouched, is also an experience worth getting up early for in Furano.

After skiing all day, I thought I wouldn't have any energy left at night, but when I saw the slopes lit up, I couldn't resist putting my ski boots back on. It's colder at night, so the snow surface is a little harder than during the day, and you feel the speed more; if your technique is solid, it's really satisfying for practicing carving, but once the snow surface gets icy, it really hurts when you fall 😭

Skiing in Hokkaido is seriously so much fun! The snow is so soft and light, and the ride down is incredibly smooth. It was my first time experiencing what it means to not want to stop skiing. So exhilarating!

The setting here is honestly fantastic. The slopes are well maintained, and the wide-open snowy scenery all around is exactly what winter in Hokkaido should look like.

Night skiing at Furano Ski Resort has such a great atmosphere. The runs look especially beautiful under the lights, and the skiing feels really smooth.

The snow at Furano Ski Resort is really fine and fluffy, making the runs feel super smooth. No wonder so many people say it’s a must-ski spot in Hokkaido.

When the weather is nice, you can also take in some gorgeous snowy scenery. The whole skiing experience was really enjoyable.

Hokkaido’s snow is powdery, unlike in some other countries where it’s much harder!

Hokkaido, this white winter wonderland, is one of my must-visit places every year.

You have to come at least once in your life.
