A visit to Tsuruga should definitely include Kehi Jingu Shrine. The large torii gate at the entrance is very imposing and is also one of the shrine’s most iconic sights. The entire shrine is very peaceful, and once you step inside, it feels completely different from the liveliness of downtown Tsuruga.

Kehi Jingu Shrine has a very long history and is known as the “chief guardian shrine of the Hokuriku region.” It is also a very important shrine locally. The grounds are full of greenery, and slowly walking along the approach feels especially pleasant. It’s also a great place to quiet your mind and pray.

I included Kehi Jingu Shrine in this trip to Tsuruga and thought it was a very nice attraction. Without a rushed itinerary, I could take my time looking at the torii gate, shrine gate, and scenery around the grounds while experiencing the atmosphere of a traditional Japanese shrine.

When shopping in Harajuku, you definitely shouldn't miss Laforet Harajuku! The entire mall has a youthful, distinctive, and trendy atmosphere, with lots of Japanese fashion brands, clothing stores, and unique little shops. Each floor has a different style, making it fun to browse.

The clothing styles here are also very diverse, ranging from sweet and cute to streetwear and more distinctive looks. Many women can't help but stop and take their time browsing when they find a store they like. Even if you're just wandering around casually, it's easy to discover brands and small items you don't usually come across.
Kyoto city KYOCERA Museum of Art

It started as Japan's second largest public art museum, Tairei Kinen Kyoto Art Museum, that commemorated then-emperor's enthronement, then the name was changed to Kyoto City Art Museum. In spring of 2020 after a renovation, it was reopened as Kyoto City Kyocera Art Museum.

The architecture itself is very distinctive, with a strong sense of modern Japanese design on the exterior. During this trip to Kyoto, I made a special trip here to walk around. The surrounding area is very pleasant and relaxing to stroll through.

The exhibitions inside the museum change depending on the season, so every visit feels different. In addition to enjoying the artwork, I also really liked the museum's simple, well-designed spaces. Even casual photos have a great atmosphere.
Takashimaya Times Square

Takashimaya Times Square, a large commercial facility that opened in 1996, consists of a main building with a basement level and 14 above-ground floors. The main building centers around Shinjuku Takashimaya and houses Japan's largest Tokyu Hands, Uniqlo, and the electronics retailer Nojima.

I came to Takashimaya Times Square in Shinjuku at night. Quite a few people were gathered outside in the plaza, leisurely walking around and browsing, and the whole atmosphere was very relaxed.

The plaza at night didn't feel as rushed as it does during the day. Instead, it had a more leisurely feel, with many people chatting and taking walks while enjoying the lively atmosphere of Tokyo at night.

After exploring the streets of Shinjuku, it was nice to take a walk around here, look at the surrounding lights and passing crowds, and get a sense of everyday life in Tokyo at night.
