Standing high above in the sea breeze, looking at the deep blue ocean blending with the city of Atami, felt completely different from walking through the streets. The sunlight sparkling on the water made the view especially pleasant.

Atami itself is a hot spring town nestled between the mountains and the sea, and from this perspective, you can appreciate its unique terrain even more. It’s no wonder so many people choose to come here to soak in the hot springs, look out at the ocean, and enjoy a relaxing vacation.

This time I only stopped briefly to enjoy the scenery, but it felt well worth it. If I have the chance to visit Atami again, I hope to stay overnight, enjoy a good soak in the hot springs, and watch the sunset in Atami.

Jozankei Onsen (Hot Springs)

A historical hot spring resort located in Minami-Ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido, also known as the inner city of the large Sapporo metropolis. It has been designated as Shikotsu-Toya National Park for more than 150 years since the hot spring opened. When we arrived in Jozankei Onsen, unfortunately it was already nighttime by the time we reached the hotel, and most of the shops were closed, so we didn't get a chance to explore properly.

Although we missed the lively daytime streets and unique shops, Jozankei at night had its own peaceful atmosphere. There weren't many pedestrians, and everything was much quieter, which made it easier to appreciate the laid-back, relaxing feel of the hot spring town.

Jozankei is located on the outskirts of Sapporo, surrounded by forests and river valleys, and is a well-known hot spring destination in Hokkaido.
Hakone Kowakien YUNESSUN

YUNESSUN is a hot springs theme park located in Hakone, the popular hot springs destination in Japan. The park is divided into two areas, the traditional hot springs baths at Mori no Yu and the Yunessun area for you to enjoy in your swimwear.

Hakone Kowakien YUNESSUN has a real resort atmosphere throughout the entire park. It’s not just a place to soak in hot springs—there are also all kinds of hot spring facilities to experience. It’s especially comfortable to visit in cold weather!

After checking into the hotel this time, my favorite part was the hotel’s hot springs. Soaking in them was really comfortable! As I soaked in the warm water, my whole body gradually relaxed, and much of the fatigue from the trip faded away.

Hakone is already a great place for hot springs, so if your itinerary is more relaxed, I highly recommend setting aside some time to enjoy a good soak and rest at the hotel, and savor Hakone’s hot spring experience〜
Hoto Fudo, Kawaguchiko Kita

Lake Kawaguchi is one of the Fuji Five Lakes at the bottom of the highest mountain of Japan, Mt. Fuji. There, Hoto Fudo serves the famous local dish, hoto. In addition to this main shop, they have four more around the Lake Kawaguchi.

At Hoto Fudo's Kawaguchiko Kita Main Shop by Lake Kawaguchi, it was bitterly cold outside, so stepping into the restaurant felt especially wonderful!

I ordered a piping-hot bowl of hoto. It was still steaming when it arrived at the table, with wide noodles and plenty of vegetables. The broth was warming and filling, and a bowl on a cold day was truly comforting.

Especially after being out in the cold wind at Lake Kawaguchi for a while, I could really feel my whole body warming up. In weather like this, eating a steaming bowl of hoto is what makes traveling feel so satisfying!
