Get lost in the deep nature of Kuju!

The scenery around the Chojabaru Visitor Center is really pleasant, with vast natural landscapes everywhere you look and especially fresh air. It’s a great place to rest and recharge during your trip while enjoying the mountain views along the way.

Inside the visitor center, you can also learn a little about the local natural environment and get information about nearby attractions, which is very convenient for first-time visitors. After driving through Kyushu and enjoying the scenery, stopping here for a walk made the pace of the whole trip slow down as well.

If you’re planning a road trip around Kyushu, Chojabaru is a nice little spot to stop by along the way. Take in the scenery, snap a few photos, and then continue on to your next destination.

Jingisukan Anbe

A jingisukan specialty restaurant with over 70 years of history, located just across the Hayase River from JR Tono Station. Jingisukan is often closely associated with Hokkaido, but it’s also popular in Tono, Iwate Prefecture. Per-capita lamb consumption here rivals Hokkaido. Known as the originator of “Tono Jingisukan,” this is a beloved spot that draws visitors day after day.

The lamb was grilled until lightly charred and fragrant on the outside, while the meat stayed tender. It was very moreish with the special sauce and didn’t have nearly as strong a gamey lamb smell as I had imagined. Grilling it with onions added their sweet vegetable aroma and gave the overall flavor more depth.

It was my first time trying Jingisukan barbecue, and it felt very characteristic of Hokkaido. Grilling the meat myself while enjoying it piping hot was fun, and the atmosphere was pretty good too! It’s definitely worth planning a meal to try it when traveling in Hokkaido!
KITTE

Unique shops and eateries line this commercial complex, managed by Japan Post. The atrium on the first floor is striking with its open space, from which you can overlook the shops on each floor.

When you’re in Marunouchi, Tokyo, don’t miss KITTE Marunouchi! Besides all the shops and restaurants, the most pleasant surprise is the view of Tokyo Station from the windows.

Looking out from the garden, the entire red-brick Tokyo Station comes into view. Set against the surrounding high-rises, the mix of traditional and modern architecture is truly beautiful.

Especially when looking down from the upper floors, you get a very different perspective of Tokyo Station, and the whole scene really has that Tokyo city feel. Seeing this view made the visit feel very worthwhile. The next time I come to Tokyo, I’d like to return and see how it looks at a different time of day!

A shopping complex facing the prime location of Ginza Chuo-dori street. Although each floor is not large, the building has a total of 9 floors (8 floors and 1 basement floor), and about 40 stores, such as fashion stores, miscellaneous goods shops, and restaurants.

There’s a wide selection of clothing, from everyday outfits to more distinctive pieces, making it fun to browse. If you enjoy shopping, it’s a great place to add to your Ginza itinerary!
