Japan's incense culture originated with the custom of burning incense after Buddhism was introduced. At first, it was mainly used for rituals at temples, but it gradually became part of aristocratic life and even developed into kōdō, or the art of incense, in which different fragrances are appreciated by smelling and identifying them. Shoyeido was founded in Kyoto and has carried on the tradition of incense making for many years. In addition to incense sticks for Buddhist ceremonies, the store also offers incense suitable for everyday use. Different combinations of fragrant woods and spices create their own distinctive scents, and you can take your time choosing from sandalwood and agarwood to floral fragrances. For Japanese people, burning incense isn't just about adding fragrance to a space; it's also a way to calm the mind and experience the seasons and everyday life.

Mount Misen
Centrally located on Miyajima Island in Hiroshima Prefecture, known historically as "God's Island," is Mt. Misen. Ever since its founding in 806 AD by the great monk Kobo Daishi, this mountain has been revered as a sacred peak of mountain worship. The untouched Mt. Misen primeval forest, along with the Itsukushima Shrine, has been designated as a World Heritage site.

The most vibrant street on the island, the "Miyajima Omotesando Shopping Street" is lined with stores showcasing Miyajima's specialties. Spanning approximately 350 meters, this arcade street leading up to the grand torii gate of "Itsukushima Shrine" is packed with souvenir shops, stores offering local crafts, and eateries serving Miyajima gourmet delights. With a dense collection of stores offering souvenirs and local foods emblematic of Miyajima, it's recommended to stroll this shopping street first when you visit the island.
宮島表參道商店街全長約 350 公尺，是前往嚴島神社途中最熱鬧的街道。沿途聚集紅葉饅頭、炸紅葉饅頭、烤牡蠣、穴子料理及各式伴手禮店，還能找到宮島杓子、木雕等特色工藝品。整條街人聲鼎沸、香氣四溢，充滿宮島特有的觀光氣氛，很適合一邊散步、一邊品嘗美食，再挑選幾樣特色伴手禮帶回家。
