Kusatsu Onsen is popular and well known as one of Japan's three major hotsprings. 32300 liters per minute naturally gushes, which is admitted as the highest amount of discharge in Japan, the source water with high acid is known to have an excellent antibacterial effect.

A symbol of the Kusatsu, Yubatake, in which natural hot water with steam and smell discharges without stopping at 4000 liters per minute. Walking around the pavement and sitting on the bench nearby to kick back are recommended.

Sai no Kawara Park is also a popular area where many sources of gushing water are found. “Sainokawara Rotenburo (Sainokawara open-air bath)” opened in the park makes you feel the nature when bathing.

The Jizo area also discharges hot water and completed its redevelopment in 2021, which became a new tourists’ spot Jizo Onsen (Jizo Hotspring). The water is vaporized and used for the face only being inspired by the enshrined “Mearai Jizo (the statue who washes the eyes), this uniqueness is gaining in popularity.

There are a lot of tasteful inns, cafes using local products, and nostalgic souvenir shops filled with goods around the spring precinct, enjoy walking around and dropping by.

Directions
1) About 1 hour and 35 minutes by car from Usui-Karuizawa IC on the Joshin-etsu Expressway
2) From Karuizawa Station on the Hokuriku Shinkansen , 1hour and from18 to 55 minutes by the Kusatsu Kotsu Bus or Seibu Kanko Bus and get off at the Kusatsu Onsen Bus stop.
3) From "Naganohara-Kusatsuguchi ” Station on the limited express Kusatsu-Go , JR West, 25-minute ride on the JR Bus, get off at Gunma Kusatsu Bus Terminal.
