Kaiseizan Park, which stretches in front of Koriyama City Hall, is an urban park that can be called a symbol of Koriyama City. The park is centered around Lake Isuzu, which was developed for irrigation, and is well known by citizens as an urban oasis.

The park, which covers a total area of approximately 30 hectares, has sports facilities such as an athletic field, baseball field, and swimming pool, as well as a free open space and an outdoor music hall, and can be used for a variety of purposes. The park is also known as one of the best cherry blossom viewing spots in the prefecture, with approximately 1,300 cherry trees in bloom, including the Kaiseizan Grand Shrine on the west side of the park. Among them, somei-yoshino cherry trees are the oldest and most precious in Japan, planted by pioneers in 1878. During the cherry blossom viewing season, the garden is illuminated at night, attracting many visitors day and night.

The rose garden, with 800 roses of about 400 varieties, is also a sight to behold. The garden is open to the public in June and October, when the roses are at their best, and visitors can enjoy the elegant roses blooming in a variety of colors. The park is recommended as a walking course where visitors can fully enjoy nature in each of the four seasons, including the fall foliage.

*Partial access to the park may be restricted due to construction work in the park in 2023.
