Last update :

Asahikawa City is one of Japan's leading wooden furniture production areas. The "Asahikawa Design Center" displays and sells Asahikawa furniture and woodworking crafts from about 30 manufacturers belonging to the Asahikawa Furniture Industry Cooperative.

Renovated in 2017, the center offers an experience more akin to a museum or art gallery than a simple furniture shop. The high design quality and variety of wooden furniture, as well as the advanced woodworking techniques, are sure to impress and inspire visitors. With products ranging from traditional furniture made carefully using local wood to designs born from international furniture design competitions, there is an array of exciting items to see. The diverse designs of furniture and woodworking crafts can be seen, touched, and purchased, making it a popular destination.

The center also features a café, where you can enjoy authentic Taiwanese cuisine during lunchtime, as well as Chinese tea, Taiwanese tea, and Gongfu tea. The interior is a stylish space designed by young furniture designers and locals working together, creating a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy café time.
