Kita no Megumi Asahikawa Tabe Marche
A celebration of Asahikawa cuisine showcasing the flavors of northern Hokkaido.
One of northern Hokkaido's leading food festivals, this event is held annually for three days in September, including Respect for the Aged Day, in central Asahikawa, Hokkaido. A wide variety of restaurants and producers from Asahikawa, other parts of northern Hokkaido, and partner cities gather at venues stretching from the plaza in front of JR Asahikawa Station to Heiwa Shopping Street. Visitors can sample locally produced agricultural and livestock products, seafood, regional specialties, sweets, and more.
The festival began in 2010 to commemorate the 120th anniversary of Asahikawa's founding. It has since become a beloved fall tradition that transforms the entire city into a gourmet market. In addition to sampling food, visitors can learn about the region's culinary culture and producers' dedication to their craft. The festival also offers a full lineup of stage events and family-friendly activities.
The event was renamed Kita no Megumi Asahikawa Tabe Marche in 2025. In 2026, it will add Asahikawa Kids Challenge Village, where children can discover the appeal of local food and the region through fun activities, as well as the Evening Marche, which runs from late afternoon into the evening. These new programs offer visitors even more ways to experience the festival.
