Last update :

Located in the hilly region of the southwestern part of Uji City, this botanical park spans approximately 10 hectares. At the park's entrance, the "Tapestry of Flowers and Water" stands proudly as Japan's largest terraced flower bed. With a width of 62 meters and a height of 18 meters, this magnificent display features 3,675 planters. The grand floral display, which paints a brocade-style picture with motifs related to Uji City using seasonal plants, is both striking and beautiful, making it an excellent spot for photographs.

The park, segmented by season into spring, summer, and fall areas, is home to about 800 species of plants. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll surrounded by a diverse range of plants including trees, flowers, herbs, and aquatic plants.

Additionally, to the right of the entrance is a greenhouse named "Green Resting Place", which exhibits about 650 species, approximately 7,000 plants of tropical and subtropical origin. This includes the three great sacred trees of Buddhism, the Banyan tree, palms, bougainvillea, and other plants that are rarely seen in Japan, all contributing to the greenhouse's exotic ambiance.
