The Tale of Genji Museum, Uji City

This public museum is themed around "The Tale of Genji," a timeless classic written by Murasaki Shikibu in the Heian period and still widely read over a thousand years later. It particularly focuses on the "Uji Chapters" and the main character "Hikaru Genji," conveying their stories through models and videos for easy understanding.

In the video exhibition room, original video works are shown, including "Ukifune" that delves into the world of the "Uji Chapters" with Ukifune as the heroine, "Hashihime - Women's Inner Strength" that tells the love stories of the "Uji Chapters" from the perspective of the bridge princess, and "GENJI FANTASY - A Cat Falls in Love with Hikaru Genji," where a modern high school girl time slips to the Heian period and meets Murasaki Shikibu. These three works are shown in rotation.

In addition to the permanent exhibition, special exhibitions delve deeper into "The Tale of Genji" and the Heian period.
