Tsujiri Uji Main Store
Authentic Matcha at a Long-Established Tea House in the Home of Uji Tea.
Tsujiri Uji Main Store in Uji, Kyoto, is a long-established Uji tea house with more than 165 years of history. Carrying on the tradition of Uji tea, one of Japan’s most famous premium teas, it offers high-quality matcha and tea leaves. It also inherits the spirit of Riemon Tsuji, who contributed to the development of Uji tea in the late Edo period, around the 1850s to 1860s.
In addition to selling Uji tea, the shop also features a tea salon where you can enjoy matcha sweets. From popular matcha parfaits to traditional Japanese sweets, you can casually experience the authentic flavors unique to a long-established tea house. Its stone-milled matcha is known for its rich aroma, mellow sweetness, and elegant bitterness. Another part of its charm is the chance to spend a relaxing tea break in a calm space overlooking the inner garden. Being able to feel the changing seasons adds to the experience.
It is also easy to access, just about a 5-minute walk from JR Uji Station. The location makes it easy to stop by along with sightseeing spots such as Byodoin Temple and Uji Bridge. In addition to matcha sweets, it also offers a full selection of souvenirs, including authentic tea leaves and sweets. It is an ideal place to create special memories of your visit to Uji.
