Perched on the hills of Higashiyama, The Westin Miyako Kyoto is a distinguished luxury hotel with deep roots in history. Since its founding in 1890 (Meiji 23), it has welcomed prominent figures from around the world, including Albert Einstein and Helen Keller. With its 130th anniversary in April 2021, the hotel underwent a major renovation under the concept of “The Queen of Elegance,” emerging even more refined and luxurious.

The number of guest rooms was reduced by half during the renovation, expanding the average room size from about 35㎡ to 50㎡. Designed to reflect the natural beauty of Higashiyama, the rooms offer views of seasonal landscapes just outside the windows. The Sukiya-style annex KASUIEN, originally designed by renowned Japanese architect Togo Murano, has been reborn into a new space while preserving its historical charm, and now features guest rooms with private natural hot spring baths.

A new spa facility, Kacho, was also established, utilizing natural hot springs drawn from within the hotel grounds (Kyoto Keage Onsen). Spanning 2,100㎡, it is one of Kyoto’s largest spas, complete with semi-open-air baths, saunas, and Le Jardin Sothys spa treatments.

Dining options are equally impressive, including a French restaurant overseen by Dominique Bouchet, a teppanyaki restaurant, and the all-day dining venue RAQOU. The hotel also offers stylish bars and lounges, further enhancing its reputation as one of Kyoto’s premier luxury stays.

Elegant atmosphere and top-notch service. You get beautiful mountain and garden views, so it's peaceful even though it's in the city. The breakfast is plentiful, and the rooms are comfortable. It's the perfect place to relax and unwind.
