Ninigi, a confectionery store in the Gion district of Kyoto, offers a wonderful fruit daifuku series, Kajitsu no Fuku. Their fantastic daifuku is filled with fresh juicy seasonal fruit, including strawberry, tangerine and white bean paste or whipped cream in a thin soft mochi. Their white bean paste is made with high-quality white beans called Otebo from Hokkaido and cooked only with bean, sugar, and mizuame syrup. No preservatives or other additives are used.

The "Gion Potchiri," filled with five different seasonal fruits, was inspired by the "potchiri" of maiko. The "potchiri" is a sash clip on maiko’s outfit. It is supposed to be such an expensive item and so valuable it is said that "Even if you fall, protect your potchiri.” This unique daifuku, inspired by the location of Gion, is one of the most popular products among the Kajitsu no Fuku offerings.

The "Osama Kuri no Fuku" is filled with large chestnuts, a favorite Japanese autumn taste, and sweet red bean paste. The "Budo no Fuku" is another popular product available at the same time of year. This one is made with sweet, fresh seedless grapes placed together with a light white bean paste and whipped cream, then covered with a soft mochi layer. They choose to the best seasonal grapes, such as Shine Muscat with its elegant sweetness and noble aroma, and sweet Nagano Purple with mild acidity and rich aroma.

A variety of fruit daifuku, made with seasonal fruits and white bean paste, then gently wrapped with soft mochi is available at the stores in all seasons. Each time you visit, you can encounter something new.
