Torashin Ramen relocated from Akanegaoka and reopened in eastern Yamagata City, Yamagata Prefecture. This popular local ramen shop is sometimes full right when it opens. Orders are placed by purchasing a meal ticket from the ticket machine near the entrance.

There are four main types of ramen: soy sauce, miso, salt, and rich beef salt. Each one is available as a regular bowl, half chashu ramen, or chashu ramen. The chashu ramen is especially notable for the generous topping of chashu that nearly covers the entire bowl. The most popular choice is the spicy miso ramen. Its rich, mildly spicy soup pairs perfectly with medium-thick curly noodles. Another draw is the added spicy miso paste, which lets you adjust the flavor to your liking. Seasonal items such as chilled ramen are also available in summer.

The spacious interior includes counter, table, and raised tatami-style seating. Parking is also available, making it easy to visit by car. Some menu items are also available for takeout.
