Founded in Yamagata City in 1980, Onigarashi Main Store serves Yamagata’s traditional spicy miso ramen. While preserving the original flavor from when it first opened, the shop continues to refine and evolve its signature taste.

Onigarashi’s signature dish is its miso ramen. The key to its flavor is a soup made from a carefully balanced blend of meat-based and seafood-based ingredients. It is known for bringing out the aroma, richness, and spiciness of the miso. You can choose your preferred spice level from five options: super hot, extra hot, medium hot, mild, or non-spicy. Another popular choice is natto ramen, a uniquely Yamagata-style dish topped with fermented soybeans. In summer, seasonal items such as chilled miso ramen also appear on the menu.

In addition to counter seating, the spacious interior also has table seats. There is also a raised seating area that accommodates up to six people. Popular with everyone from solo diners to groups, the restaurant is lively day after day. Takeout sets with fresh noodles and soup are also available, so you can enjoy the taste of Onigarashi at home.
