Shimobe Hotel

Surrounded by natural woodland and conveniently located near a station on the JR Minobu Line, this hot spring ryokan offers easy access. One of its biggest attractions is the chance to enjoy three different hot spring sources, the simple sulfur spring rising from the garden, the Shimobe Onsen shared spring, and the high-temperature source of Shimobe Oku no Yu, across 12 baths including seven open-air baths. Guests can also enjoy a range of distinctive baths, including a cypress bath, rock open-air bath, ceramic bath for solo soaking, and a low-temperature spring for alternating hot and cold bathing. Free drinks such as draft beer and wine in the post-bath lounge are another nice touch.

Guest rooms range from suite rooms with open-air hot spring baths to scenic twin rooms on the top floor and special rooms in the annex. A glamping experience limited to one group per day is also popular.

Meals feature satoyama cuisine made with carefully selected local ingredients from Yamanashi. For dinner, guests can choose from a buffet with a lively open kitchen, a restaurant serving creative kaiseki cuisine, or a dining plan in a private banquet room that is ideal for group trips. The staff’s Japanese taiko drum show and guest-participation mochi pounding are also signature attractions that make the stay even more exciting.
