The signature product of Maruhachi Seichajo, a long-established Japanese tea specialty shop in Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture, with a history dating back to the late Edo period. Created to be presented to Emperor Showa, who is said to have preferred hojicha in his later years, it is now loved as one of Ishikawa’s representative teas.

"Bocha" is a type of hojicha made from tea stems, and it was once popular as an affordable everyday tea for ordinary people. "Kenjo Kaga Bocha," developed by Maruhachi Seichajo through repeated trial and error to present to Emperor Showa, is made by gently roasting high-quality first-picked tea stems until plump. It is known for its fragrant aroma and clear, refined flavor, and can be enjoyed both brewed with hot water and cold brewed.

The product lineup includes canned, bagged, and tea bag versions. Just place it in a teacup or pitcher and pour in hot water whenever you want to drink it, so it is recommended for people who do not own a teapot or who want to enjoy it casually. It is sold at the main store next to the company’s headquarters factory in Kaga, directly operated stores in Kanazawa’s Higashi Chaya District and Kanazawa Station, and the online shop.
