Sunrise Seto & Izumo
Travel to your destination while you sleep! Japan’s only regularly scheduled sleeper limited express.
The Sunrise Seto, which connects Tokyo Station and Takamatsu Station, and the Sunrise Izumo, which connects Tokyo Station and Izumoshi Station, are Japan’s only regularly scheduled sleeper trains. They depart at night and arrive the next morning, making them especially convenient if you want to sightsee in Tokyo during the day and head on to the San’in region or Shikoku the following day.
Both the Sunrise Seto and Sunrise Izumo operate one train each way every day. From Tokyo Station to Okayama Station, the two trains run coupled together, then split into separate 7-car trains at Okayama Station and continue to their respective destinations. Travel time is Approx. 9 hours 30 minutes from Tokyo Station to Takamatsu Station and Approx. 12 hours to Izumoshi Station. All seats are reserved, and you can also board or get off at stations along the way.
This all-double-decker train offers a variety of accommodations, including the spacious Single Deluxe, which also includes access to a private shower room, and the Sunrise Twin, with two side-by-side beds for couples or friends traveling together. If you are looking for a more budget-friendly option, the Nobinobi Seat, a reserved ordinary-car seat available at the regular limited express fare, is recommended.
