Held every October in central Nagoya, this festival showcases the city's traditions, culture, and attractions.
The main event is the Festival Parade, featuring the Three Great Heroes—Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Tokugawa Ieyasu—and floats designated as cultural properties by the City of Nagoya.
The Festival Parade will not be held in 2026 due to the Asian Para Games. Instead, related events will take place at the main venue, including displays of floats and flower cars from the Hometown Heroes Parade, as well as traditional float music and karakuri mechanical puppet performances.
The festival will also feature stage events unique to the Nagoya Festival, including martial arts demonstrations by local samurai performance groups. Other attractions include Bon dance, kagura music, street performances, numerous food stalls and food trucks, and traditional festival booths, creating a lively atmosphere.
During the festival, facilities managed by the City of Nagoya, including Nagoya Castle, Tokugawa Garden, and Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens, will offer free admission on Sunday, with some facilities offering it on both Saturday and Sunday.
