Yattokame Cultural Festival DOORS

Rediscover Nagoya through a diverse lineup of cultural programs.

Last update :

Held since 2013, this event showcases the appeal of Nagoya’s history and culture. Locations throughout the city, including Nagoya Castle, long-established traditional restaurants, and parks, serve as venues for a variety of programs over approximately one month.

During the festival, a diverse range of programs exploring Nagoya’s history and culture take place across the city, including traditional performing arts such as kabuki and kyogen. With the city itself as the stage, the lineup includes not only performances to watch but also interactive programs.

The festival offers many ways to experience Nagoya’s culture from different perspectives. These include “Tabisuru Nagoya Gaku,” a series of 47 expert-led courses offering an in-depth look at topics such as historic roads and Nagoya cuisine, as well as “Nagoya Wagashi,” which introduces the city’s wide variety of traditional Japanese sweets. Programs vary each year, and some require advance ticket purchases. Popular programs may sell out, so be sure to plan ahead.
