Furaibo Sakae Shop

The birthplace of Tebasaki Karaage, deep fried chicken wings, a Nagoya Specialty.

Last update :

Tebasaki Karaage, deep friend chicken wings dredged in a sauce and pepper is one of Nagoya’s esteemed soul foods that you can find at almost any izakaya. The birthplace of Tebasaki karraage is Furaibo, an izakaya chain that hails from central Aichi prefecture.

The founder of Furaibo has even come up with the “Tarzan-yaki” concept, a half-chicken deep fried before being dredged in the house sauce and grilled to perfection. This is the same sauce that, when paired with chicken wings, has become an instant shop favorite.

Tebasaki Karaage are dressed in a punchy, rich sauce that’s spicy and sweet with plenty of white sesame and salt and pepper taste that’ll keep the beers flowing. The wings are double-fried first at a low, then high heat to make the crispy outside, juicy inside bite. There’s even Teba Gyoza, a chicken wing stuffed with gyoza filling that’s another example of a hot menu item that stemmed from Tebasaki Karaage.

The Furaibo Sakae shop is located in Nagoya’s city center, easily accessible from the Sakae subway station. Inside you’ll find dugout horigotatsu tables waiting for your cozy-casual dining.
