I visited Ashikaga Flower Park in late April, when this world-class garden was at its most romantic.

As I entered the park, magnificent purple wisteria cascaded down like a purple waterfall, swaying in the breeze and filling the air with fragrance. Even more stunning was the rarely seen white wisteria, blooming as pure white as snow and looking graceful in the sunlight. The paths and landscaping throughout the park were exceptionally well planned. In addition to the breathtaking purple and white wisteria, azaleas and all kinds of flowers intertwined to create a colorful sea of blooms with rich layers.

After strolling around and taking photos throughout the park, don't forget to enjoy the food trucks for a perfect finish. Sit beside the flower trellises and savor a freshly grilled ayu with crispy skin and tender flesh, paired with a limited-edition wisteria ice cream with a light, delicate fragrance. It was deeply soothing for both the eyes and the taste buds.

Aoshima Shrine

Aoshima is a small island of 1.5km in circumference, which is connected with a 150m-long bridge to the main island. The whole island is Aoshima Shrine’s ground. As a holy island, no one was allowed to visit here. The whole premises are covered with areca trees and other sub-tropical plants in a very Miyazaki-like tropical scenery.

On a trip to Miyazaki, the land of mythology, Aoshima Shrine is not to be missed. Floating on the deep blue sea, this shrine radiates a pure, spiritual energy. Along the way, you're surrounded by the spectacular wave-eroded rock formations known as the Devil's Washboard.

The small Aoshima Shrine feels both solemn and playful, with creative sea bream fishing fortunes and unique gyoza fortunes that make drawing a fortune and praying for blessings a lot of fun. Follow the hidden trail through the subtropical forest to the back, where a powerful sacred tree called Meoto Kusu stands tall. After praying, tie one of the five-colored strings representing your wish beside the tree to pray for a good relationship and for your wish to come true.

If you're not driving, it's best to check the bus schedule in advance so you can easily visit the nearby coastal attractions. After visiting the shrine, I highly recommend eating at the nearby UPPER YARD Aoshima. Their signature chicken nanban is crispy outside and tender inside, covered in sweet-and-sour tartar sauce, and incredibly juicy—truly unforgettable!

This outlet mall, located near Narita Airport, can be accessed easily by car; just 1 km away from the Shisui Interchange on the Higashi Kanto Expressway. It has been welcoming many visitors from central Tokyo. The complex was opened in 2013 as the 9th premium outlet in Japan.

Shisui Premium Outlets is only about a 15-minute drive from Narita Airport, and many nearby hotels offer direct shuttle service, making it very convenient. It's a good choice for one last shopping spree before heading home.

When you arrive, remember to scan the QR code at the mall to get an exclusive digital coupon for international visitors. Show it at checkout for an additional discount on top of tax-free shopping. Although there aren't as many luxury brands here, the mall is spacious and comfortable to walk around. When you need a break, you can stop by the popular matcha shop Maccha House and enjoy rich, smooth Uji matcha. It's a perfect way to end the trip after eating well and shopping to your heart's content.

The specialty of this restaurant is the "Maboroshi no Tebasaki", which would make you absolutely addicted for its spiciness and flavor of the "Maboroshi no Kosho（Phantom pepper）" and "Hiden no Tare(Secret sauce)".

When in Nagoya, you absolutely can't miss the city's iconic local specialty—the Maboroshi no Tebasaki from Sekai no Yamachan! The wings are fried until golden and crispy, coated in a rich secret sauce, then generously sprinkled with a special pepper salt. Fragrant and mildly spicy, they're finger-licking good and incredibly satisfying, whether paired with drinks or eaten on their own.

The Nayabashi location is always packed at mealtimes. If you don't want to wait in line too long, I highly recommend getting takeout and bringing it back to your hotel. Pair it with fresh strawberries and drinks from the nearby Don Quijote, and enjoy this authentic Nagoya specialty at your leisure in the air conditioning.
