Otsuka Museum of Art is a “Ceramic Board Masterpiece Art Museum” for world masterpieces, established in Naruto city, Tokushima prefecture. The founding took place on the occasion of the Otsuka Pharmaceutical Group's 75th anniversary. The museum occupies Japan’s largest permanent collection space, a total floor area of 29,412 square meters. The art collections are exhibited in a total of 4 kilometers of gallery halls consisting of three basement floors and two at ground level.

The museum houses more than 1000 works, ranging from antiquity to the 20th century and collected from over 190 museums in 26 countries. The full-size faithful replicas were created using a special technology. The paintings are reproduced onto ceramic plates which, the museum claims, will preserve their colors and shapes for as long as 2000 years. The museum particularly wishes, with its unique methods, to contribute to the recording and perseveration of the world’s valuable cultural heritage.

Their cutting-edge projects, including reproductions of Picasso’s Guernica, the original no longer allowed outside the Reina Sofía museum in Madrid, and the reconstruction of El Greco’s altarpieces, dispersed during wartime, are praised for their technology and concept.
