Nara Craft Museum

This is a museum specializing in Nara crafts, which reopened after renovation in August 2021. Based on the three action concepts of "inherit," "create," and "open up," the museum widely promotes the appeal of Nara crafts, which have been sharpened over its long history.

The permanent exhibition features traditional Nara crafts such as Nara brushes, Nara zumi ink, Akahada-yaki pottery, Nara fans, Nara sarashi, Nara Itto-bori carving, Nara lacquerware, and kogakumen masks. Visitors can view excellent works selected from a wide range of artworks throughout the year. The exhibition also displays production tools and other artifacts, allowing visitors to appreciate the skills and spirit of craftsmanship cultivated through tradition.

The museum also hosts a variety of events, including production demonstrations by artists and craftspeople, special and solo exhibitions in the gallery, and other events (irregular). Visitors can gain a deeper understanding of the appeal of Nara's crafts by experiencing them in conjunction with the works on display in the permanent exhibition.
