UCHINA CAFÉ BUKU-BUKU

Finished with unforgettable fluffy foam! An undoubtedly insta-worthy traditional café.

Last update :

Yachimun Street in Nago is the spot to find oodles of shops selling Yachimun, an authentic Okinawan baked treat. Smack dab in the middle you’ll find Uchina Café Buku-Buku.

The hot item to try here is Buku-buku-cha, topped with fluffy white foam. It’s said to have roots dating as far based as the Ryukyu Dynasty Days. It’s also known as “fuku-fuku-cha” or “lucky tea”, brought on for birthday celebrations and more. It’s made with white rice, brown rice and sanpin tea, whipped up with a banboo whisk into a smooth and aromatic flavor. You can drink the foam and tea together, take a spoon to the foam top, or enjoy it any which way.

From the eclectic Yachimun Cup to the organic coffee made with your selected favorite, to a golden latte made with turmeric, ginger and sugar cane powder mixed with milk, there’s plenty of unique drinks to try.

Inside the café you’ll find a gallery space, selling glasses made with Ryukyu glass and other yachimun dishware made by local artisans.
