Head Editor : Maizuru Brick Park

Once used as fish-shaped torpedo warehouses by the Navy, this complex now houses eight red brick warehouses, all designated as important cultural properties by the country. Building No. 1, among them, is preserved as one of the oldest existing steel-frame brick structures.

Today, it's repurposed as a multipurpose facility featuring event rental spaces, shops, restaurants, and coworking areas, offering a plethora of activities. The "Red Brick Museum" allows visitors to explore the history of bricks through exhibits of various bricks used in constructions worldwide, including a detailed introduction to famous brick buildings and a replica of a Hoffman kiln, providing a particularly impressive sight.

At "Building No. 5 Cafe," guests can savor the "Maizuru Kaiji Curry," a recreation of the curry consumed aboard the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force escort ship "Fuyuzuki." Moreover, "Sakana Terrace" is popular for its takeaway service, offering fresh seafood dishes from Maizuru effortlessly.

The "Red Brick Shop" stocks a wide range of souvenirs from Maizuru, as well as products from the Northern Kinki and Wakasa regions. Ready-to-eat curries and Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force merchandise are among the favorites.
