This observation tower rises from the summit of Ota Mountain Park in Kisarazu City. Built in 1992 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the city’s incorporation, the 28-meter-tall tower is designed in the shape of a sword, and at its tip are figures of Prince Yamatotakeru and his wife, Ototachibanahime, reaching out toward each other. This hill, tied to the tragic love legend of “Kimisarazu,” is also known as the “Forest of Love” and is cherished as a symbol of Kisarazu.

From the observation deck, you can look out over the streets of Kisarazu below, with sweeping views of the Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line and the Boso Hills in the distance. On clear days, you can even see Mt. Fuji. At dusk, the sunset over the sea is beautiful, and at night, the illuminated tower appears in a dreamlike glow. With its romantic atmosphere, it is also popular as a night view spot and has been selected as one of Japan’s 100 Best Night Views.

The surrounding Ota Mountain Park is also one of Kisarazu’s best cherry blossom spots. In spring, 400 cherry trees burst into bloom, and the sight of the tower rising beyond the blossoms draws many visitors. A favorite destination for both locals and tourists, it offers different views to enjoy depending on the season and time of day.

If you’re coming to the Kisarazu Outlet, this is an easy add-on since it’s not far away. The seaside walkway below the tower feels really relaxing, and it’s just right for a walk and a little sun.
