Nihombashi Takashimaya S.C.

Nihombashi Takashimaya was opened at the current place in Tokyo in 1933. The flagship store of this national department store will have the 90th anniversary in 2023, which is known as a landmark in Nihombashi area.

In 1915, a store specialized in watches, Takashimaya Watch Maison, and in 2018, Pokemon Center Tokyo DX came into the east wing. In the same year, a new wing with more than 100 retail stores was added. In 2019, the main building was renewed and completed with the 4-wing ”Nihombashi Takashimaya S.C.” for a full swing.

Genuine Italian marbles are used generously and retro elevators are still working in the main building - the modern style where Renaissance and Oriental essence mingle. For the historical value, it was designated as a national important cultural property, the first in the nation as a department store. The interesting mix of the new and old designs is seen in teh galleria built between the main building and the new wing.
