Perched on the southwest corner of the bustling Shijo Kawaramachi intersection in Kyoto, this large-scale retailer keeps a long and bold history since its infancy as the “Takashimaya” vintage clothing cotton merchant that founded in the local year of Tempo 2 (1831). The brand moved to Kawaramachi-Takatsuji as the first privately-owned, reinforced concrete commercial building during the Meiji era in 1912, and has since then moved to its current spot as a market center in 1946.

Kyoto Takashimaya is a must-visit for Nintendo fans! Besides the hugely popular Mario merchandise, there are lots of cute Pikmin items, and walking around really makes you want to take everything home. When you get tired from shopping, I recommend trying Kikunoi's matcha parfait—the rich tea aroma is so comforting. The fruit chiffon cake from Malebranche in the basement is also worth trying!

Universal Studios Japan, nicknamed “USJ”, is a large-scale theme park with entertainment for everyone, both children and adults alike. The park is separated into different areas, each with a different theme from popular titles across the world.

Universal Studios Japan is full of immersive experiences. Walking into the Harry Potter area feels like stepping into a magical world, and Super Nintendo World is especially photogenic at night! I recommend trying the new Donkey Kong attraction for an exciting and fun adventure. You may also run into popular characters around the park, so if you see one you like, don't miss the chance to take a photo together!

Asahikawa Science Museum Scipal

This science museum has a permanent display room, planetarium, laboratory, and an observation deck. There is a lot of hands-on equipment fun for adults and children alike. In the neighborhood, Miyamae Park and the banks along Chubetsu River offer nice places for a walk.

The Sapporo Science Center is a family-friendly attraction for all ages! Not only can you easily learn about the snowy region through interactive games and have a great time, but adults can also get fully immersed. The thrilling minus 50-degree extreme cold experience and impressive 3D theater are especially entertaining and educational. I highly recommend exploring it with the whole family!

Built in 1956 on Nishi 1-chome, the starting point of Odori Park, the Sapporo TV Tower is well known to locals and tourists alike as a landmark of Sapporo that has witnessed the city's development since its completion.

The Christmas lights and festive market atmosphere at Sapporo TV Tower are wonderful! Although it's very cold outside, the dazzling lights make it especially romantic. When you get tired of walking around, you can browse cute little shops for hidden finds, then enjoy a cup of hot cocoa and some hot food. It instantly warms both your heart and stomach, making for an unforgettable and cozy winter experience.

The trip to Sendai and Miyajima was unforgettable. Miyajima's scenery was picturesque and refreshing, and tasting the freshly grilled oysters, sweet and bursting with juice, was the ultimate treat. The dense, sweet honey castella from Shokado was the perfect ending to the trip.

Meiji Jingu Gaien (Outer Garden)

Meiji Jingu Gaien, the outer park of Meiji Shrine, was established in 1926. It features the Meiji Memorial Picture Gallery and various sports facilities, such as the Meiji Jingu Stadium, where you can enjoy nature throughout the four seasons.

The golden tunnel was dazzling, with fallen leaves forming a soft carpet. While strolling through it, the air carried the distinctive, unusual smell of ginkgo nuts, but it didn't dampen my enjoyment at all. Surrounded by bustling crowds and traffic, sports cars occasionally roared past, adding a touch of modern luxury and motion to the poetic autumn scenery.

Jozenji-dori Avenue

Along with Aoba Dori, this main street is a symbol of Sendai, the "City of Trees," with four rows of zelkova trees stretching 700 meters, which can be enjoyed in all seasons, from fresh greenery to autumn leaves. The center of the street is a promenade, where visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll while sipping a cup of coffee.
