There's a wide selection of brands here, including clothing, shoes, bags, and sports brands, with plenty of discounted items as well. It's a great place to take your time hunting for finds. When you get tired from shopping, you can stop at a cafe to rest and grab a bite, making for a relaxing half day.

The best part this time was browsing for things I liked while enjoying the beautiful streetscape. Finding something to take home felt so rewarding!

Homangu Kamado Jinja

Kamado Jinja is a shrine with over 1350 years of history. It enshrines Tamayori-hime, who has been worshipped as a kami (Shinto god) of marriage since ancient times.

At Homangu Kamado Jinja in Dazaifu, Fukuoka, I was immediately drawn to the atmosphere of the shrine surrounded by greenery. Walking slowly uphill along the approach, the whole setting felt peaceful and pleasant.

The shrine is famous for prayers for love and good relationships, which added a touch of romance to this trip. Entering the shrine and praying in person felt especially serene, very different from the lively atmosphere of Dazaifu Tenmangu.

A few steps from the Hachiko exit of JR Shibuya Station, known for “Hachiko”, the iconic bronze Akita dog statue, and a quick walk across the Scramble intersection will bring you to the shopping area known as "Shibuya Center Shopping District".

The Hachiko statue in Shibuya Center Street may be small, but it’s definitely worth stopping by for a photo when visiting Shibuya! Seeing Hachiko in person and thinking about how he waited at the station for his owner every day was truly moving. The constant crowds around it create the lively, bustling atmosphere of Tokyo.

Hokkyokusei Shinsaibashi Honten

Founded in 1922, Hokkyokusei is a venerable Western-style restaurant known as the birthplace of omurice. The main restaurant was built in 1950 in the sukiya-zukuri style of traditional Japanese architecture, offering a unique moment with an iconic dish and picture-perfect view out over a Japanese garden.

At Hokkyokusei, I was most excited about their signature omurice. When it arrived, the fragrant fried rice wrapped in a silky golden omelet looked simple but incredibly appetizing!

The egg and ketchup fried rice were perfectly balanced. The sweet-and-tangy flavor was very appetizing, and it wasn't too rich overall. Instead, it had a simple, comforting taste. Highly recommended!

Uncle Rikuro’s Freshly Baked Cheesecake

Uncle Rikurou's freshly baked cheesecake" has been famous in the local market since 1984 for its fluffy texture and delicious taste. Since then, its reputation has spread nationwide, and it is now known as Osaka's famous confectionery.

How could you visit Osaka and miss the hugely popular Uncle Rikuro's Cheesecake? It was still warm when I got it, and a light milky aroma came from the box as soon as I opened it. The cake even had the signature Uncle Rikuro stamp on top—it was so cute!

With the first bite, the texture was even lighter than I expected. It was fluffy and soft with a rich cheese aroma, and it wasn't overly sweet, making it very easy to eat.

Daimaru Shinsaibashi Store

Facing Midosuji, the main street of Osaka, this department store has been loved as the face of Shinsaibashi for nearly 300 years since its establishment. In 2019, the main building was rebuilt for the first time in 86 years and reopened. The design and materials of the old main building, which were handled by William Merrell Vories, an architect active from the Meiji to Showa eras, are used both inside and outside, creating a space that feels tradition in the newness.

Daimaru Department Store is definitely a great place to browse. From cosmetics, clothing, and luxury goods to all kinds of Japanese souvenirs, the selection is very extensive. It's a great place whether you want to shop or just look around.

I especially enjoy taking my time browsing the department store, enjoying the air conditioning, and checking out Japanese brands. When you get tired, you can take a break and get something to eat.

It is a complex facility located in Akihabara, known as Tokyo's Denki-Gai (its commercial district with many electronics retail stores.) It's the core store of the Yodobashi-Akiba complex.

As soon as you walk into Yodobashi, you really get the feeling that "they have everything here!" From cameras, electronics, and phone accessories to household goods, toys, and cosmetics, the selection is incredibly extensive. It's easy to end up buying a bunch of things without even realizing it!

Santa Maria, a sightseeing sailing boat of the Osaka Port

The "Santa Maria," which was used by Columbus when he discovered the American continent, was built on about twice the scale. The ship departs from Kaiyukan West Wharf in Tempozan Harbor Village, which houses Kaiyukan, one of the world's largest aquariums, a Ferris wheel, and Tempozan Marketplace, a large-scale commercial facility, and cruises leisurely around the Osaka Bay area for about 45 minutes.

Hop aboard Osaka's sightseeing sailing ship, the Santa Maria, and enjoy the city from a different perspective!

As the ship slowly leaves Osaka Port, a pleasant sea breeze blows in. Looking out over the vast ocean, you can't help but relax. Along the way, you can enjoy views of the cityscape around Osaka Port, harbor buildings, and passing ships. Seeing Osaka from the water gives you a completely different impression.

Tsutenkaku Tower

A steel tower which looks like the Eiffel Tower and 75 meters high was built In 1912, on top of a building which was the motif of the Arc de Triomphe, and named “Tsutenkaku” meaning “A building reaching the heaven'' by Nangaku Fujisawa, a Confucian in the early Meiji period. After being broken down due to a fire, citizens lobbied for rebuilding and the current 2nd Tsutenkaku was built in 1956.

How could you visit Osaka and miss the iconic Tsutenkaku Tower? When you see it rising high in the distance, you know you've arrived in Shinsekai, the Osaka neighborhood best known for its down-to-earth atmosphere.

Walking through the surrounding streets, you can really feel the Osaka vibe, with retro signs, lively food stalls, and all kinds of local specialties. The whole atmosphere is very interesting. Look up at Tsutenkaku, then browse the streets below—any casual photo you take will feel distinctly Osaka!

I prefer places like this that feel full of everyday life over glamorous attractions. If you come to Osaka, you have to visit Tsutenkaku and experience the city's most authentic downtown atmosphere!

Nara Park

Nara Park is a scenic area surrounded by historical and cultural treasures, including Kasuga Taisha Shrine, Kohfukuji Temple, Todaiji Temple, the Nara National Museum, and Shoso-in. Visitors can enjoy the breathtaking natural beauty of its expansive greenery while exploring these iconic landmarks. The park is located in the center of the city, making it easily accessible to various tourist spots.

At Nara Park, what I looked forward to most was getting up close with the adorable deer! As soon as I took out the deer crackers, they immediately gathered around and kept nodding and bowing for food. They were so cute.

At first, I thought the deer were very gentle, but once they saw the crackers, they became incredibly eager. The crackers in my hand were gone in no time. Watching them eat and walk along with us was really fun and soothing.
